Adams County has 32 miles of off road ATV/UTV trails and are working at expanding it's trail system as land and monies become available. ATV/UTV's are not allowed on snowmobile trails in Adams County. For additional information or an updated ATV/UTV map contact Adams County Trails Department at (608) 564-7513.
General ATV/UTV use is not permitted in county park facilities with the exception of the ATV/UTV camp loop at Petenwell Park & park roads east of Co Hwy Z (campsites 199-217) at Castle Rock Park. Both parks have designated parking areas for ATV/UTV's.

Road routes signed for ATV/UTV use are typically open year round and regulated by each local municipality via an Ordinance. Each township, village and city has its own Regulations. The Adams County ATV/UTV Association Inc is working with the municipalities to create uniformity. However when crossing municipal boundaries you could easily be operating under slightly different regulations. It is the operator’s responsibility to know and understand their location and the associated rules and regulations. The Adams County Ordinance allows for travel on all County Hwys. Travel on State Hwys is not permitted, although there are a couple of very short road routes where State Hwys are utilized in the Village of Friendship, City of Adams, and Arkdale. Any road posted as closed to ATV/UTV traffic is just that, closed do not utilize it.
Township Roads are named like: Fish Lane, Elk Ave, Badger Drive, Akron Court, 13th Lane, 5th Ave.
