Adams County Elected Officials Announce Modified Procedures During COVID-19 Pandemic
The Adams County Clerk, Treasurer and Register of Deeds offices have established how they will handle their constitutional duties and serve the public while the county’s nonessential operations are affected by the COVID-19 emergency. The Adams County Board of Supervisors has declared a state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As constitutional officers, the clerk, treasurer and register of deeds are required to continue to offer certain services in a limited fashion. Due to the high traffic experienced in these departments, the doors to these offices may be temporarily locked. Staff is still available to assist over the phone or online. We are constantly monitoring the situation.
We are here to serve you during this emergency. Please contact us with any questions!
Starting at 8:00 AM on Tuesday May 26th, the Adams County Register of Deeds Office will be open to the public for services. We encourage you to continue to use the mail or online services (below) We will be following the guidance provided by WEDC to provide safe and effective services. If you chose to come in person, there are some things you need to know. Only certain doors on Adams Street will be open to the public – Door D and the Door at the Sheriff’s Department. We will have single use pens (we prefer you bring your own), implemented social distancing markers, limited the amount of public access terminals and limited access to various areas of the office. If there is no space to social distance, you will be asked to wait outside or in your car until we can assist you
We will continue to process vital records applications. You can find applications at www.wrdaonline.org . We encourage you to complete and mail the application(s) along with the appropriate fee and ID. Adams County will continue to closely monitor the impact of COVID-19 on the community and will keep you informed if services will change.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Regarding third-party vendors selling vital records
We have received an increased number of calls about third-party vendors selling birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates. These companies charge customers high fees to "process" or "help apply" for certificates issued from the Wisconsin Vital Records Office.
To avoid high fees when ordering online, we highly encourage customers to double check the URL of the site you are on to ensure that you are ordering either thru the state's vendor Vital Chek or the local Register of Deeds Office.
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY – NO GENEALOGY APPOINTMENTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES

Property Fraud Alert
Jodi Helgeson is pleased to announce that the office is releasing a free on-line service that will allow Adams County citizens the ability to have their name monitored within the Register of Deeds office in order to track possible fraudulent activity. Citizens will be notified only when the name they have submitted to Property Fraud Alert is found on a document recorded in the Adams County Register of Deeds office.
Protecting consumers information and real estate property are our top priorities. While Property Fraud Alert will not prevent fraud from happening it will provide an early warning system that will allow our citizens to take appropriate actions should they deem possible fraudulent activity has occurred with their property.
We are committed to bringing the best service possible to our citizens and are excited about the value this offering could bring. To sign up check out the website at:
