Single-stream Recycling

Whether a collection truck picks up recycling in your neighborhood or you take it to a local drop-off, all recyclables collected in our area travel to the Adams County Recycling Facility where the materials are:

• Separated from one another by hand and by high-tech sorting equipment.

• Compressed into storage bales for easy shipping.

• Marketed and sold to companies to be re-manufactured into a wide array of new products.

The convenience of single-stream recycling means eliminating the use of plastic bags to collect recycling. Plastic bags and other "tanglers " wrap around the sorting equipment causing maintenance issues and safety concerns for the workers. See picture to the right.
