Stepparent & Domestic Adoption

The Stepparent/Domestic Adoption Guideline explains the steps to take to file for a stepparent adoption, lists the forms required and provides general information to the petitioner. The probate office can provide a packet of forms for a stepparent adoption for a fee or the forms can be downloaded from the Wisconsin Court System. Look under the juvenile section.

Foreign Adoption

Petitioners for a foreign adoption can use the same guideline and forms as listed above. A licensed adoption agency will conduct an investigation of the petitioners of the foreign adoption. That licensed adoption agency must file their report with the court prior to the adoption hearing.

Adoption records are confidential. All search requests must go through the Adoption Record Search Program. Additional information is available at www.dcf.wisconsin.gov/children/
